Activities for Teaching the PRESENT PROGRESSIVE (PART II)

  1. PICTURE PERFECT

Using an action packed magazine photo, have student 1 describe the picture to student 2. Student 2 draws what student 1 is describing (using the present progressive). Once the pair is finished, they compare picture and (most likely) get a laugh out of the difference. Students change roles with a second picture.

  1. A LETTER HOME

What are your students doing as they pursue their English studies? In class? For fun? Students write a letter to someone at home describing their life as an EFL student.

  1. WHAT ARE YOU DOING

As a class brainstorm all the different places your students visit throughout the week. Include places like the grocery car and other locations in which they may only spend a few minutes. Pairs of students work together using that list of places. Student 1 tell student 2 where he is (e.g you are at the gym). Student 2 says what he is doing there (e.g I am lifting weights)
