Activities for Teaching the Future Progressive (PART II)


  1. PEOPLE PREDICTIONS

What will people be doing in 100 years? Warm up by showing your students a clip from a science fiction program such Star Trek, Star Wars. Students make predictions about the future of our world using the future progressive

  1. A PREDICTABLE FUTURE

Have each person in your class write down what he was doing each hours of the day yesterday. Then have students exchange papers and rewrite their classmates’ schedules assuming tomorrow will be the same as yesterday.

  1. A ROLL OF THE DICE

Review preposition of time (IN for a length of time, ON for a specific date, AT for a specific time of the day), then have students make predictions about the future suing each of those prepositions as necessary. Each person takes turn rolling a six-sided die. She must then incorporate that number into her future predictions. She can use the number in a length of time, for a specific date or for a specific time of the day. Each person tells the class what she will be doing at that point in time.
